Language of instruction is predominantly Slovenian. Many higher education institutions also offer lectures (especially at postgraduate level) in English.

All foreign students must pass an intermediate level examination that will test their knowledge of Slovene prior to enrolment in the second year at the Centre for Slovene as a second/foreign language .

Knowledge of Slovene is obligatory for undergraduate students as all lectures are conducted in Slovenian. Proof of language competence must in most cases be submitted prior to enrolment in the second year of undergraduate studies.

For some programs, an exam must be passed at the beginning of studies, so check if this is the case for the undergraduate program in which you are interested.

For postgraduate studies knowledge of Slovene is desired but not required.
