Summer evenings in Novo mesto

On summer evenings Novo Mesto is bustling with life – every year there are three festivals at the Grm Castle: Rudi Potepuški, festival of street art, was held this year from 5 to 7 July. The Evenings in Novo mesto, festival hosted by Goga Publishing House, stretches throughout the summer (12 July to 23 August) and includes literary events and concerts. At the end of August, the Novo mesto short festival will follow, where best short fiction of the year will be awarded. Admission is free for all events.

Musical evening with Slovenian evergreen songs

It all started with Rudi

Rudi potepuški (wandering Rudi) is a street art festival, frequented by families – children with parents, grandparents, friends. Most of the shows are intended for children, however, adults are also happy to participate in interactive performances. This year, the artists used the castle garden and walls for - just at first glance - demanding acrobatics. Participating artists created shows with minimal resources but attracted huge crowds, many spectators also enjoyed the shows from their balconies, terraces or windows.

Every year a children's circus workshop is organized. Judging by the number of enthusiastic and numerous visitors, the circus has a bright future in Slovenia. Curious children and parents frequently try slacklining, juggling or acrobatics themselves.

Literary and musical events

Evenings in Novo mesto festival was opened with an evening of choir music where numerous visitors could hear many beautiful and evergreen Slovenian pop songs. The festival is otherwise designed as a series of talk events, where the first guest was dr. Svetlana Slapšak, Slovenian author and anthropologist, greeted by a full courtyard of visitors who also had the opportunity of talking to her and having their copy of her recent novel signed.

Other festival events will include Milan Kučan, Milena Zupančič, Tadej Golob, Vinko Möderndorfer, Mirt Komel, and many others. The festival will be concluded with the celebration of the 20th anniversary of Goga Publishing House involving a charity auction of their works, public readings and a birthday party.
