Photo exhibition at Bled Strategic Forum: Slovenian Bridges

"Bridging the Divide"

A selection of 16 photographs by well-known Slovenian photographers was chosen by the Slovenian Government Communication Office for the ocassion of this year's Bled Strategic Forum and its slogan "Bridging the Divide". The exhibition includes photos of bridges and footbridges in different regions of Slovenia, aiming to show the beauty of our cultural and natural heritage. It shows both real and symbolic beauty of the bridges embedded in diverse Slovenian landscape.

Clicking the images below takes you to some basic information about individual bridges as well as the area they are situated in. Enjoy!

Slovenia, a land in the midst of Europe, located between the Alps, the Pannonian Plain and the Adriatic Sea, is by its geographical and strategic position both a natural and a symbolic bridge – a bridge between the north and the south, the east and the west of Europe. Bridges are a symbol of connecting people and overcoming differences and obstacles that divide us.

Through the course of history, the development and progress in the construction of bridges have greatly contributed to facilitating travel and communication, and have therefore had a tremendous impact on the spread of our culture and the shaping of politics. The banks of Slovenian rivers are connected by many diverse and fascinating bridges that put a distinctive mark on their surroundings - either because of their honourable age, unusual appearance, special features, world record or because of a legend accompanying them.
