Slovenian Advertising Festival

Portorož to host stars of the global advertising and marketing industry

During this period of volatile economic conditions, the situation in the Slovenian market of advertising and marketing has changed. With this in mind, new relations and new relationships in this area will be the underlying theme of the 23rd Slovenian Advertising Festival (SOF), which will take place between 26 and 28 March in Portorož. Advertisers are aware that changes are a driving force behind their business. The top world-class domestic and foreign speakers addressing the participants will make the event in Portorož even more interesting.

The slogan 'New relations, new relationships' is the underlying theme of the 23rd SOF. "The slogan, as the fil rouge of the festival, invites us all to establish whether the key entities of our industry are in the right relations with each other to allow growth, development and advancement. Business and communication successes are the result of real relationships: that is the true relationship between brands and consumers, between risk and caution, between reason and emotion, between the use of technology and original creativity. The 23rd SOF will raise questions about the relationship between brands and consumers, the relationship between creativity and efficiency, about how we set up efficient communication teams, and whether the use of technology is crucial for success, or if a good story still creates a more powerful effect," announced Barbara Modic, the President of the 23rd SOF and the Managing Director of Pristop Media.

The image of the 23rd SOF was designed by the PRISTOP agency, the central motif being a tornado, an image encouraging playfulness, freshness and creativity. The slogan 'New relations, new relationships' carries the message that the paths leading to victory might also be the most risky, while those that are safe will probably not make it to the top.

Top-ranking speakers

The congress part of the 23rd SOF will feature a number of leading domestic and foreign lecturers, who will definitely attract the attention of the wider expert public. Kentaro Kimura, Co-CEO and Executive Creative Director at Hakuhodo Kettle, Tokyo, which won thirteen Cannes Lions at last year's Cannes Festival, will be making his first appearance at the SOF and in Slovenia in general. His work crosses boundaries by introducing new methods, media and technologies, which in new circumstances provide the most optimal solutions. He has won a number of international awards, including ten Cannes Lions.

Indisputably an interesting speaker, Geoffrey Hantson has since 2006 been the Executive Creative Director of Duval Guillaume Modem with headquarters in Antwerp. Festival participants will also hear from Robert Lešnik, a Chief Exterior Designer for Mercedes-Benz; Claudia Navarro, the Marketing Communication Manager for Central and Southern Europe at the Coca-Cola Company, responsible for the development of marketing communication platforms for all key brands activated across twenty-three countries; Ian Sutherland, Deputy Dean of Research and Director of the PhD programme at IEDC – Bled School of Management, whose work focuses on management, creative and strategic processes, facilitating diversity and arts-based leadership development.

The case has been recognised as a good practice example for a successful branding project. The participants will also be addressed by Lazar Džamić, Strategic Planning Director at Kitcatt Nohr Digitas, and Jugoslav Petković, an entrepreneur and co-founder of the region’s largest online shop, mimovrste=), and the D.Labs Internet development company, which helps its clients to set up online business.
