International Cultural Events
Each year, many events take place in Slovenia which are known beyond the national borders. First of all, there is the Biennial of Graphic Arts , which has gained a reputation as one of Europe’s major art events; the annual Ljubljana Summer Festival ; Maribor’s Lent Festival ; the Exodos Dance Festival of Ljubljana; the street theatre festival called Desetnica; the PEN meeting in Bled; and the Vilenica literary festival in Sežana, which many foreign artists attend.
Ljubljana’s Cankarjev dom Cultural and Congress Centre is of special importance: its membership of the network uniting the world’s most prestigious cultural festivals has allowed it to become Slovenia’s window on the world in exchanges of Slovenian and foreign artists.
